Trip Type: Mountain Bike Tours

The Namibia Classic Bike Tour is an active way to experience many of the highlights of Namibia.
Over 14 days, we travel from Windhoek across the Namib Escarpment and through the Namib Desert to Swakopmund, the Erongo Mountains, Damaraland, Etosha National Park and finally Otjiwa Nature Reserve.
We choose the sections that are most enjoyable to ride. Some days we bike on quiet gravel roads, on other days we ride farm tracks, jeep tracks and mountain bike trails. Our support vehicle is always nearby, so the tour can be adapted to the group.
This is not a race. It is about enjoying Namibia by mountain bike, seeing the landscapes, experiencing the wildlife and having time for a sundowner at the end of the day.

The Namibia Explorer Bike Tour is a compact mountain bike journey through some of Namibia’s most beautiful landscapes. Over 12 days, we combine rewarding cycling with the highlights of a classic Namibia safari – the Khomas Highlands, the Namib Desert and Sossusvlei, Swakopmund and the Atlantic coast, the granite landscapes of the Erongo Mountains, Etosha National Park and a final wildlife ride at Otjiwa.

Namibia is made for this kind of biking. Quiet gravel roads, farm tracks, jeep trails and open desert landscapes allow us to explore areas far away from busy roads and towns. We select the most scenic and enjoyable sections to ride, while longer distances are covered comfortably in our support vehicle.

This is not a race. The tour is about experiencing Namibia from the saddle, with time to stop, enjoy the landscapes and wildlife and explore the country along the way.

Accommodation is in comfortable guesthouses and lodges, with a special two-night glamping stay in the Erongo Mountains. A professional bike guide accompanies the tour, supported by a vehicle and bike trailer throughout the journey.

Northwestern Namibia is one of the last great wilderness areas in southern Africa. Vast open landscapes, volcanic mountains, dry river valleys and the desolate Skeleton Coast make this a very special area to explore by mountain bike.
On this exclusive journey, we fly from Windhoek directly into the wilderness of the Palmwag Concession, where our bike team and e-bikes are waiting for us.
Over the following days, we explore the volcanic landscapes of the Etendeka Mountains and Palmwag Concession, the remote Hoanib and Hoarusib ephemeral rivers, and the wilderness around Puros. This is home to desert-adapted elephants, black rhino, giraffe and even desert-adapted lions.
One of the great highlights is our ride through the restricted Skeleton Coast National Park, following the Hoarusib towards the Atlantic Ocean and the remarkable Shipwreck Lodge. Mountain Bike Namibia was among the first, and possibly the first organised bike group, to cycle this extraordinary route through the national park to Shipwreck Lodge.
We spend two nights at each of our wilderness lodges, giving us enough time not only to bike but also to experience the wildlife, landscapes and people of this remote part of Namibia.
From the Skeleton Coast, we fly by private charter to Ongava Private Game Reserve, where we end our adventure with two nights of classic African safari and wildlife viewing before flying back to Windhoek.
We recommend this tour on full-suspension e-mountain bikes. The e-bike allows us to explore greater distances through this enormous wilderness while still having time to stop, enjoy the scenery and experience the wildlife.

The Damaraland Bike Tour takes you through some of the most spectacular and remote landscapes in Namibia. From the granite peaks of the Spitzkoppe, we ride north into the rugged desert landscapes around the Brandberg and through the wide-open wilderness of Damaraland.
This is a tour for cyclists who want to experience Namibia away from the main tourist routes. We ride on quiet gravel roads, jeep tracks and selected trails through landscapes where there is very little traffic and where wildlife still moves freely through the wilderness.
Along the way, we experience the Spitzkoppe, the Brandberg region, the Ugab and Huab ephemeral river valleys, Twyfelfontein and the granite landscapes of the Erongo Mountains.
The tour combines longer rides through remote areas with shorter mountain bike trails. Our support vehicle accompanies the tour, allowing us to adapt the daily riding distances to the group, weather and conditions.
Accommodation is a combination of comfortable lodges and camping in some of Namibia’s most beautiful wilderness areas.

This is our more adventurous mountain bike tour through the remote northwest of Namibia. We start with riding around Spitzkoppe and the Erongo Mountains before travelling north through Damaraland to Twyfelfontein, Doros Crater and the Palmwag area. From here the tour becomes more remote as we bike and travel through the Palmwag wilderness, the Hoanib River area and on towards Purros and the Hoarusib River. We spend four nights camping in the wilderness, look for desert-adapted elephants and visit a local Himba community along the way. The daily rides are flexible, with our support vehicle always nearby, as distances and conditions can vary considerably in this part of Namibia. After Kaokoland we continue to Etosha for wildlife viewing before finishing with a final bike ride at Otjiwa and returning to Windhoek.
