The tours are ridden on good dirt/gravel roads and on two track farm trails. The tour is a safari that travels about 2500 km over a two week period. Some of the routes are rides from one overnight spot to the next. Other rides are on trails that take us off road and into the hills. On custom tours you may determine the preferred riding roads and trails
We bike the lesser travelled roads and trails. We seldom come into contact with cars on our tours. The tour is a nature experience meaning that we are mostly off the beaten track away from people and cars.
The tour is a nature experience through the most beautiful areas of Namibia. We seldom come across people on our tours. A custom tour can be booked if you would like the tour to focus on culture and experiencing the local people of Namibia.
Namibia has a wide variety of wild animals including the Big 5. We will view many of these from the saddles of our bikes. We need not be afraid as the animals are more afraid than people and disappear before we come too close. The bike tour travels through Northwestern Namibia, home to desert-adapted elephant, black rhinocerous and desert lion.
Namibia has summer rainfall which mainly falls during the hot months, November through to March. From April to October we have our cooler months with a fairly chilly winter around June and July. A bike tour would make most sense from April to September.
Namibia is well known for our good quality meat and a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Whether we overnight in lodges or in camping, we offer fine meals with fresh salads and cold drinks.
This is a list of the items we recommend you bring along on your tour.
We provide large and spacious tents with good quality mattresses. We dine under the starts with good lighting. The meals are often of a better standard than those offered in the lodges, i.e our guides are well known for their fine cooking, resulting in the guests breaking out in appreciative applause more often than not!
