The tour departs from Windhoek via Omaruru to Northwestern Namibia. From there we travel to the Palmwag Concession. An area off the more commonly driven tourist routes, includes the lava's of the Etendeka Plateau, Skeleton Coast , the northern dune sea and the linear oasis's, the Hoanib, Hoarusib and Khumib rivers. In and near these rivers, one finds an abundant supply of wild animals including elephants and lions. We cycle on the Palmwag concession where we should encounter many different species of wild animals. The bizarre and unique flora is captivating and beautiful. The landscapes are of a long ago lava flow that has created a unique stone desert filled with many small mountains. The northwest is home to the famous free roaming black rhinocerous that are increasing their numbers in this lovely nature area. Onwards and westwards we cycle into the Gamatub valley on the way to the isolated Hoanib River winding it's way into the Skeleton Coast Park . On the desolate gravel plains of the Skeleton Coast we cycle to Purros on the Hoarusib River , home to a large number of desert adapted elephants. From here onwards, we regularly come across the Himba people who are the “owners” of Kaokoland. The trip over the Khumib Pass , between the Hoarusib and Khumib Rivers is breathtaking on our bikes. Thereafter we finally reach the colorful capital of Kaokoland, Opuwo , with it's many people's and it's welcoming african chaos, via Kaoko Otavi .
The last two days of the tour focus on the Etosha National Park. From Opuwo we travel to the well known wildlife concession, Hobatere. From Hobatere we travel through the wild and seldom traveled Western Etosha to Okakuejo where we will spend a night at the Restcamp or a suitable lodge just outside the Anderson Gate. On the final day the guests are transferred from Etosha to Windhoek or Swakopmund.
Die Tour beginnt in Windhoek und führt über Omaruru in den Nordwesten Namibias. Von hier aus geht es in das Palmwag Konzessionsgebiet. Dies ist eine Gegend, wo Sie während einer gewöhnlichen Reise nicht unbedingt vorbeikommen. Die Lava Gesteine des Etendeka Plateaus, die Skelett Küste, das nördliche Dünenmeer und die Trockenflussläufe des Hoanib, Hoarusib und Khumib Flusses. In diesem Gebiet halten sich viele wilde Tiere inklusive den Wüstenelefanten und Löwen auf. Wir biken im Palmwag Konzessionsgebiet, wo wir vielen dieser wilden Tieren begegnen sollten. Die bizarre Flora wird Sie mit ihrer Einmaligkeit in den Bann ziehen. Die Landschaft besteht aus einer schon lange erkalteten Lavamasse, die eine faszinierende Gerölllandschaft mit vielen kleinen Bergen geformt hat. Der Nordwesten ist auch die Heimat des geschützten aber freilebenden Schwarzen Nashorns, das in dieser traumhaften Natur in den letzten Jahren wieder an Zahlen zunimmt. Diese Bikeetappe bringt uns ins Gamatub Tal auf dem Weg zum einsamen Hoanib Fluss, der sich durch den Skelettküsten Park schlängelt. Auf den desolaten Schotterpisten der Skelett Küste biken wir nach Purros und zum Hoarusib Fluss, Heimat einer grossen Anzahl von Wüstenelefanten. Von hier an begegnen wir regelmässig den Himba Nomaden, die die “Eigentümer” des Kaokolandes sind. Die Fahrt auf unseren Bikes über den Khumib Pass, zwischen dem Hoarusib und Khumib Fluss ist atemraubend. Anschliessend erreichen wir via Kaoko Otavi, die farbenfrohe Hauptstadt des Kaokolandes, Opuwo, mit seinen vielen Menschen und seinem charmanten afrikanischen Chaos.
An den letzten beiden Tage der Tour erleben wir den Etosha National Park. Von Opuwo geht unsere Reise zum bekannten Schutzgebiet Hobatere. Von hier aus fahren wir durch den westlichen, selten befahrenen Teil, des Etosha Parks nach Okaukuejo, wo wir die Nacht im Restcamp, oder in einer passenden Lodge direkt ausserhalb des Anderson Tors, verbringen werden. Am letzten Tag ist der Transfer der Gäste nach Windhoek zurück.
